The Heat Project Launch Environment Competition

Press Release
12 Oct 2009

Environmental Christmas competition educates from a child’s perspective.

The nationwide discounted loft and cavity wall insulation provider, the Heat Project, has launched an exciting new competition to provide an insight into how the environment is perceived by children through a Christmas campaign entitled ‘Our Planet, Our Future – what my environment means to me’. The campaign hopes to be educational for the children taking part as well as for those at the Heat Project, providing a unique opportunity to identify how the planet’s greatest threat is perceived by those it will most likely affect if no remedial action is taken.

Using the often brilliantly brutal yet wonderfully honest perspectives of children, the Heat Project is inviting all children throughout the UK of ages eleven or under to submit a painting, drawing or photograph relating to the theme ‘Our Planet, Our Future – what my environment means to me’. The winning picture will feature on the front cover of the Heat Project 2009 company Christmas card, and along with 11 runners up will form the Heat Project’s 2010 calendar. Furthermore, the winner and their family will receive a year’s free National Trust family pass so they can further enjoy and appreciate their environment, and a free Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), courtesy of the Heat Project’s latest EPC service, to ensure the family’s immediate environment is green and efficient, providing a better environment for us all.

Adrian Liddell, Managing Director at the Heat Project comments:
“Today more than ever children are becoming increasingly aware of the environment and its fragility; in fact we find it is often children who are more considerate of this than the adults!

“The intention of this competition is to offer a light hearted but educational insight into our next generation’s appreciation of our environment during the festive period, which is traditionally known for its excess; and with excess comes waste. We want to educate children, and their parents, about the importance of cutting such waste, including carbon emissions that can be reduced with effective insulation.”

The Heat Project offers free and heavily discounted loft and cavity wall insulation to allow households in the UK to save money, save energy, and ultimately help save the environment.

To enter the competition and to be in with a chance of winning a year’s National Trust family pass, a free EPC, and to feature on the Heat Project Christmas card and calendar, applicants should submit their entry by the 10th November 2009 and post to: Heat Project Christmas Competition, Freepost NATW1078, Tolvaddon, Camborne, TR14 0ZZ. Entry forms and full terms and conditions for the competition are available to download at www.heatproject.co.uk
