Sunstroom Energy Limited, a company specialised in developing solar parks, has completed the construction and grid connection of a ground-mounted solar PV project near Malmesbury in Wiltshire.
The total installed capacity of the project is 5MW, comprising approx. 20,000 solar panels. The project is located on a brownfield site of approx. 36 acres and is not overlooked by local residents. It was constructed in 5 weeks and became operational in July 2011, days before the 31 July government deadline.
Iain Morrison, managing director of Sunstroom, said, “We are very pleased to have completed the construction of this large-scale park in such a short amount of time and we have drawn extensively on our knowledge and expertise gained from developing these parks in Spain to do so. We installed the UK’s first large-scale solar PV park down the road last November and we have now most probably completed the last to be connected before the government deadline.
Now we are looking forward to getting on with selling the project and we would also like to thank all of our suppliers for their co-operation.”
